anyone notice more cops?

Hey have you guys noticed the huge increase in police force lately? I'm a regular in AM on the weekends and was suprised to hear a news story on the local channel about the increase in crime and subsequent cop increase. But when i was down there this past weekend, I feel like there was much more of a presence. Anyone else feel this is too much? necessary? not true at all?

    I haven't really noticed an increase but I haven't been out on the weekends for a while. Don't forget though... this past weekend was a holiday so that could have played a role in determining police presence. Either way I still feel safe here so I guess that's what really matters to me.
