A little about this month’s performers:
Mavi
www.romkadance.com
Mavi is a tribal fusion belly dancer from the Washington D.C. area. An early student of Egyptian and Turkish Cabaret Styles, she was drawn to the fusion of movement and spirit of Tribal fusion belly dance, especially the opportunity to blend traditional dance with interesting, odd, or just plain creepy music and props. Mavi is a regular performer at Shisha Lounge in Sterling, VA, and has performed on stage with Peter Murphy and the Dresden Dolls.
Asharah
www.Asharah.com
Asharah has been performing since the age of six as a dancer, figure skater, and singer. She has extensive experience in Turkish, Egyptian and American belly dance, and she is best known for her dramatic fusion of tribal, Turkish, and cabaret styles. She currently performs with the avant-garde troupe Martiya Possession and at the Shisha Lounge in Sterling, Virginia. Asharah has performed as a soloist at many venues on the East Coast in Northern Virginia, Maryland, New Jersey, and Manhattan, as well as at some of Washington, DC's largest nightclubs: Nation and the Black Cat.
Troupe Arabesque
www.transitionsyogaanddance.com
Arabesque takes the name from the flowing lines and patterns of Arabic art, a fitting image for the interconnectedness of all dance forms, dancers and souls.
Asylum's awesome vegan and vegetarian menu can be found on their webiste: www.asylumdc.com!
